A 1920s Riverview Transformation

Dec 20, 2023

Celebrating a Dream Realized

Honoring a Vision, Honoring a Life

In the quaint embrace of a 1920’s bungalow, nestled between the serene ripples of a river and the lush green of a sprawling vineyard, we embarked on a journey of transformation. Todays, tribute is not just to a home that’s been reimagined but to a client whose vision made it all possible. This project is a celebration of his dreams and a commemoration of an amazing man who, though he passed away before seeing the final result, trusted us implicitly to bring his vision to life.

Opening Up to Nature’s Splendor

Initially, the heart of this 1920s transformation project was to bring the outside in, capturing the breathtaking riverviews and the vibrant vineyard. To achieve this, we opened up the kitchen and dining area, creating a seamless flow that embraces the natural beauty surrounding the home. This reconfiguration went beyond space, fostering a deep connection with nature, cherished by our client.

A Palette for All Eyes

Furthermore, understanding our client’s color blindness, we chose a palette that was both visually stunning and perceptible to him. Warm blues and greens sweep throughout the home, creating a harmonious and soothing ambiance. These colors were chosen for their warmth and accessibility, ensuring that the beauty of the home was fully experienced by its owner.

The Heart of the Home

Subsequently, in the living room, comfort and hospitality take center stage. We’ve integrated abundant seating, simplistic window treatments, and a cozy bar cabinet, making it an ideal space for relaxation and social gatherings. This room, warm and inviting with a vintage fireplace, perfectly captures the home’s spirit and holds many key elements of this 1920s transformation.

A Nook for Reflection: The Whiskey Lounge

We transformed what once was a sunroom into a whiskey lounge – a personal sanctuary. Painted in a deep, moody green, it offers a retreat-like feel, perfect for unwinding. The centerpiece of this room is a bay wind with two swivel chairs, our client’s favorite spot, where one can enjoy the stunning views with a drink in hand. It’s a space that invites contemplation and enjoyment, embodying the essence of the home.

Culinary Dreams: The Kitchen and Dining Area

The journey through the house leads to the newly designed open dining area and kitchen. Here, the color palette of the home is interwoven beautifully, creating a vibrant yet calming atmosphere. The kitchen, with its off-white cabinets and striking green tile, stands out as a focal point. Despite its compact size, it packs a punch with its style and functionality, rightfully becoming the heart of the home.

A Tribute in Hardwood

As a final touch, we seamlessly integrated new hardwood floors with the original ones in the dining and kitchen areas. This not only unified the space but also added a touch of timeless elegance to this 1920s transformation.

In Memory of a Spectacular Client

This blog post is more than just a showcase of a home transformation. It’s a tribute to a client who was not just spectacular in his tastes but also in his trust and collaboration. His feedback, wants, and loves were the guiding lights of this project. Despite the challenges and delays brought on by the Covid pandemic, his patience and understanding were unwavering.

As we celebrate this transformation, we remember a man who was not just a client but a part of the soul of this project. His vision, now realized, continues to live on in every corner of this beautiful bungalow. Here’s to him – a remarkable man whose dream kitchen, a testament to his taste, turned into a heartwarming reality.
