Hello, again! Wow, umm, where has the time gone? I feel like January lasted ages and February was doing 50-mph in a school zone! (Anybody with me??) But like it or not, we are officially into the month of March, and as promised, I have the rest of my discoveries from the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show to share with you!
In case you missed Part 1, we met our incredible hosts from the KBIS DesignHounds Tour: Compac Surfaces, Nobilia, Mr. Steam, Control 4, and Thermador. You can find these fabulous folks in this post about finds for a happy, healthy home!
Today’s finds include some of my favorite pieces, collections, and of course, the trends that are making them especially timely for our everyday living. Got your glass of wine in hand? Ready to relax and browse? Let’s go!
P.S. Keep reading to the end for an exciting SURPRISE FINALE!
Bathroom Trend: Multi-Functional Cabinets
Robern Medicine Cabinet by Kohler
This medicine cabinet is an uplift cabinet! You simply slide the mirror up to reveal the cabinet behind the mirror. The sleek, clean contemporary style is paired with innovative technology: a defogger, LED lighting, as well as an outlet and USB port (what?!).
This is a perfectly functional and oh-so-pretty addition if you’re trying to save space in your new bathroom!
Hardware Trend: Mix & Match
Emtek Door Hardware
Emtek Door hardware company is unique and artistic. They let you design your own style using any combination of knobs, levers, rosettes and finishes. You can even mix and match the door hardware to make a statement!
The best part is that I sat next to a representative of Emtek on the flight out to KBIS. She was so sweet and informative that I made it my mission to find them on the floor. I may have been late to this party (they really do have an incredible product) but better late than never!
Belwith Keeler is another favorite of mine. Now, they are not a new company, as I’ve been a distributor of theirs for a while, but I loved their booth! Their new collection is gorgeous, and I cannot wait to bring samples into my showroom!
Kitchen Trend: Smart Wine Dispenser
It’s no secret that our kitchens are getting smarter, but I was wowed to see that serving appliances are, too! The Plum Wine Dispenser allows you to serve one glass of wine from two separate wine bottles. It chills, serves, preserves and educates you on your wine and which vineyard it originated from throughout the world.
Using smart technology, the touch screen allows you to serve 5oz., 1oz. or any customized size glass of wine. Yes, please!
Tile Trend: Beautiful & Easy Assembly
Daltile is another amazing favorite of mine! I was amazed by the Reva-click solution (click-to-fit porcelain tiles) as well as their outdoor porcelain tile. Beyond innovation, let’s not forget that their tile collections are simply gorgeous. The patterns, color and unique displays were superb!
Kitchen Trend: Faucets & Sinks
Kraus was another spectacular find! They have such unique faucets. There was one faucet (though still a prototype) that changed color as the warm water ran through it, and then turned back to black as the water became cold. Genius!
I saw many innovative sink systems all over KBIS. These systems create a central workstation where every task in the kitchen could be accomplished. It is super functional, stylish and smart! Just one more way to use space efficiently and truly create an environment of wellness. Bliss!
Other Amazing Sights & News
Monogram Designer, Richard T. Anuszkiewicz
Designer Richard T. Anusziewicz outdid himself in the Monogram booth. He showed us a stunning display of “traditional” in a sense and minimalist kitchen design. Plus little nooks and crannies like the Kombuhca bar.
Blue star Oven Range
As we were walking through the KBIS floor, we saw Blue Star’s innovative and creative design booth. They collaborated with one of our favorite fabric companies, Fabricut, to impose a fabricut fabric onto an oven range. Genius!!
Top 10 DesignHounds Influencer!
I can’t resist sharing a personal and TEAM accomplishment with you… in the Design Hounds Influencer Award Ceremony, I was voted into the Top 10!
It was such a proud moment to be up on stage and see what I have accomplished over my short time in this industry. It really wasn’t that long ago that I was a teacher, dreaming of design-filled days and toying with the idea of opening my own firm.
Now, and thanks to incredible supporters like YOU, the dream has become my everyday life!! I feel SO lucky. If you have a dream, chase it, my friend. And then come tell me about it so I can support you, too. 🙂
It takes a village
Lastly, I think we all need those wonderful women in our lives who support us, push us, and see the best in us on those tough days. (Yes, we all have them.) The DesignHounds Tour brings designers together to collaborate, learn and build a strong community together — and I couldn’t be more thankful to be part of it!
So here’s a well-deserved shout-out to all the amazing designers I met along the way, the familiar faces and the new!
Every designer needs her besties! 😉
