The Before: A Kitchen That Needed a Fresh Perspective
The first step in every project is a consultation—this is where the magic begins. For this particular project, the clients requested an in-home consultation. This gave us the opportunity to visit the space and experience its layout, lighting, and potential firsthand. This step is crucial for understanding exactly what homeowners are looking to achieve with their home.
During this consultation, we sat down with the homeowners to discuss their vision, needs, and priorities for the space. We asked about their daily routines, how they used their kitchen, and what wasn’t working for them. This is when we learn what’s most important. Whether it’s a more open layout, more storage, or simply making the space feel more modern and inviting. The homeowners shared their wish list with us. They brought up a need for more storage, an open flow, and a desire for a space that was both stylish and practical. By having this face-to-face conversation, we could truly envision what this kitchen could become.
The Vision: A Kitchen Built for Function and Style
After the consultation, we move into the visioning phase—where the design starts to take shape. This is when we create mood boards to capture the essence of what the clients want. We focus on blending their style with the functionality they need. The mood board process is an essential part of our custom design transformation. It allows us to explore colors, textures, and materials that align with the client’s vision. At the end of this phase, we finalize key design elements with the clients. Things like furnishings, light fixtures, and hardware ensures every choice complements the overall aesthetic and practical needs of the space.
Alongside mood boards, we create detailed floor plans. These are crucial for understanding what’s possible within the space. The floor plan allows us to map out how the layout will work. This includes where the custom cabinetry will go, and how we can best utilize the space. Sometimes, depending on the structure of the home, we can make adjustments to the floor plan through construction. This furthers our ability to optimize flow and functionality. This flexibility helps us create a truly tailored design that meets the homeowner’s unique needs.

Construction & Custom Craftsmanship
Once the design was finalized, we began the deconstruction phase and completely gutted the kitchen. Starting from scratch allowed us to reimagine the space entirely, giving us the flexibility to redesign every aspect. We reworked the layout to enhance the flow and functionality of the kitchen. With the space cleared, the transformation really began to take shape as we moved into the cabinetry installation.
Working closely with skilled artisans, we crafted dark blue custom cabinetry that brought bold character to the kitchen. This allowed us to maintain a refined, timeless aesthetic. Each cabinet was designed for maximum functionality, providing plenty of storage and fitting seamlessly into the new layout.
With the cabinetry in place, it was time to install the countertops and backsplash. We carefully fitted the quartz countertops to the cabinetry, combining beauty and durability. Then, we installed the backsplash, adding texture and completing the look. These final touches helped bring the entire design together, giving the kitchen a polished and cohesive feel.
The Final Reveal: The Golden Hour Kitchen
After months of meticulous work, the kitchen was ready for its grand reveal. The transformation was breathtaking—dark blue cabinetry and quartz countertops came together to create a bold, timeless aesthetic. The new layout, featuring an elongated island for added seating, enhances both functionality and flow. As a result, the space became ideal for both daily use and entertaining. From the custom cabinetry to the handpicked backsplash, every detail was designed to combine style and practicality. The final result is a kitchen that feels inviting, elegant, and perfectly suited to the homeowners’ needs.
